Irrational Fears

Okay, true story:

I used to work at a children's camp as a counselor. Of the girls' cabins, two were nasty, two were so-so, and two were great. I was SOOOO happy when I was placed in one of the good cabins. Everything was nice-- not worn down at all.

Well, one day I was in the bathroom doing some cleaning. The toilette paper was just about empty, so I decided to change it. Obviously. Well, as I picked up a new individually-wrapped roll, I proceded to take off that paper covering.

ALL OF A SUDDEN, a SPIDER jumped out. It had been living inside the toilette paper tube.

Ever since, I have been very scared to change toillette paper rolls. When I do, I always pick it up and hold it far away from me, checking to make sure nothing is inside.

So, to the question:
What are YOU afraid of?
-- something that is absolutely ridiculous and shouldnt REALLY be a fear.

I am scared of aquariums! It freaks me out when I stand next to that giant wall of glass, and there are sharks and other dangerous fish on the other side. I always worry that the glass will break, and I'll be shark food. Eek!

Spiders, bats and snakes...in no particular order! I used to have to see the dead bodies flushed down the toilet when I was little! My poor dad!

I'm scared of all animals...especially cats and dogs. I dont know why, I just feel like they are going to bite me or scratch me any second.

Those slithering creatures: snakes...especially cobra and python. The thought of these gives me shivers and goosebumps!

(NB a change in the spelling of name.)

You won't believe it but I am petrified of Halloween. I don't mean all the scary stuff I mean the actual holiday. I don't do it, at all, ever. I can't even bring myself to buy candy to give out or things for my grandkids.

abby- the sudden blast would probably kill you before the sharks could get to you

M of I- okay, another person afraid of spiders! Well, its not really the spiders i'm afraid of; just the changing of TP

samommy- my daughter is completely freaked out by dogs. She loves pictures of them, but is scared of the real thing

twilite- any specific reason why you changed the spelling? i do like it though

cathy- sorry to hear that. My favorite holiday is actually halloween. [Well, not really. But i just like the chance to get dressed up.] Also, thanks for the shout-out at your blog

Can't sleep with the closet door open. That's where the boogey man lives. Yes, I know, I need intensive therapy.
