Full Moon Rising

So, I'm wide awake. Have been. Last night and tonight. What's the deal?!

Hmmm... Hmmm... Oh! I got it! FULL MOON!

Deny it as much as you want, but I can say without a doubt that the occurrence of a full moon does something to people. You see it more readily in children.

For instance, one day my kiddies walked into the classroom bouncing off the walls, misbehaving, running around, not listening, arguing, etc. Now, this is not the norm for my kiddies. They are (were?) a great group of kids. Suffice it to say, I was shocked! I turned to my assistant and asked, "Mrs. J., is it a full moon tonight?" to which she replied, "Yes it is. Was last night, too." Ah-ha!

In my two years teaching, I've learned to always cut my kiddies some slack on days around the full moon. I give them a little more leeway than normal. Why punish them for something that really isn't within their full control? There's just something about it that affects people, even during the daytime. I don't know why- it just does.

Did you know that the word "lunatic" stems from the word "lunar," meaning moon? "Crazy" people are crazier during the full moon. Now, I'm not saying I'm "crazy." I'm just saying I'm wide awake, and I think it's the moon. I just hope I can get my sorry butt up in the morning!

Anyways, so a question...

Do you buy into the whole full moon thing? Do you believe it affects people, or am I making it all up? Feel free to share any stories, too.

I do believe, I suppose. I just don't normally pay attention to when it's a full moon. I did know if was a full moon this weekend. Saturday night one of the kids at work was up way late, (nearly midnight) yelling and screaming and just generally being a handful. Though, Sunday was very peaceful at work...perhaps just a tad too peaceful. LOL!

I never really believed it until Erica came around. Yes, for some crazy reason, she's more hyper and dissobedient during full moon.
